 Cameras -> Praktica L -> Praktica Super TL 1000

While the Praktica super TL1000 of 1980 looks like a MTL3 without delay action release and PC sync socket, it is generally classified a fourth-generation L-series camera; in fact it can be considered the first of the fourth-generation model before the introduction of the genuine article, the MTL5, and is the only camera with the super TL appellation with a top shutter speed of 1/1000s.

Perhaps it is open to conjecture why the super TL1000 was even produced. Parallel sales outlets notwithstanding, it could have been built as a MTL3 with internal mechanical revision unless the lacking in a PC socket warrants its classification as a distinctive model. It is also possible that Pentacon had to use up its surplus stock of third generation parts such as film winding lever, shutter speed dial and checkerboard body covering so that this hybrid can be externally thought of as of the third generation.
